Jeddah- Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, has directed King Salman Humanitarian Aid & Relief Centre (KSRelief) to donate $66.7 million to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and World Health Organization (WHO) to respond to the cholera outbreak in Yemen.

Yemeni Prime minister Ahmed bin Dagher hailed the Saudi support, expressing gratitude for the orders issued by the crown prince – also, the World Health Organization (WHO) expressed deep thanks and appreciation to the crown prince of Saudi Arabia for his initiative to fund cholera response activities in Yemen.

Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz al-Rabeeah, supervisor general of KSRelief and adviser at the royal court, appealed to the UN and the international community to stand firm against anyone who obstructs humanitarian work in Yemen. He also called on the pertinent agencies to expedite their programs to save Yemeni lives.

Further, KSRelief spokesman Dr. Samer al-Jutaili told Asharq Al-Awsat that the center has been standing beside the Yemeni people since the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued his directives.

He added that for this purpose, a USD8.2 million agreement was signed with WHO in addition to sending 550 tons of medicines that are enough for around 50,000 people.

Jutaili continued that the order of the crown prince came after the evaluation of KSRelief for the current needs of Yemen and the assessment of the center’s projects with its partners in the WHO, the Yemeni Ministry of Health and other institutions to combat cholera.
