Jeddah – Houthi insurgents and supporters of ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh transferred the funds they have seized in several governorates in Tahama province, in anticipation of the advancement of the national armed forces and the popular resistance in the coming days.

The funds were seized through looting private institutions and selling government lands and properties.

Amounts confiscated by the coupists over the past period have been estimated at millions of dollars, through the selling of lands at low prices, in addition to the income coming from the Hodeida port, which is sent on a monthly basis to Sanaa.

Militias in the province of Tahama, in particular the governorates of Hodeida and Rimah, have received orders from the so-called Ansarallah group, according to sources close to the matter.

The sources added that those militias have been conducting looting operations in several cities, in anticipation of any advancement by the legitimate forces.

In remarks to Asharq al-Awsat newspaper, Deputy Governor of Hejjah governorate Nasser Daaqeen said that Houthi militias have decided to increase the stealing of revenues from all the state sectors in the province, including Hodeida port, as well as selling state-owned lands and properties and transfer the resulting funds to Omran and Sanaa.

Asked about the Army movements, Daaqeen said that the legitimate armed forces have advanced in three locations in Wadi Heiran towards Tahama, noting the presence of field movements, which are aimed at expanding the scope of offensive operations.

The Yemeni official also said that the army has cut off military supplies from the militias present in Tahama province, by deploying soldiers in Omran and other cities to prevent the delivery of weapons.
