London- Saudi ambassador to London Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf said on Friday that regional instability in the Middle East poses a threat to international security.

Speaking at a London press conference, Prince Mohammed said that at a time Western interference in Arab world is being held back, West-allied and peace-seeking Arab countries, such as Saudi Arabia are left with the responsibility of directing the region en route to peace and stability.

The Saudi Ambassador revealed that Saudi Arabia in the meantime is the most targeted zone by terror groups such as ISIS and al Qaeda. Of the many reasons terror organizations target the kingdom is its religious sanctity and holy sites.

Saudi Arabia has suffered over 63 attacks staged by ISIS and al Qaeda, with 26 happening over the last two years alone. Over 200 civilians and security personnel have been lost to the terror attacks, said Prince Mohammed.

The Prince added that the Kingdom had led the war against ISIS before the latter had garnered the West’s attention. More so, Saudi Arabia has developed top quality rehabilitation and anti-terror centers and programs that have benefited over 3,000 people.

What is more is that Saudi Arabia has led a prominent counter-terror effort embodied in a 20 Muslim state alliance to stage military maneuvers and drills to up technical and combat efficiency of member militaries. Joint operations against detected terror threats against the region are being orchestrated by the Saudi-led alliance.

The Saudi-led Islamic Military Alliance to Fight Terrorism (IMAFT), alternative translation Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, is an intergovernmental military alliance of countries in the Muslim world united around military intervention against ISIS and other counter-terrorist activities.
