Riyadh – The joint Jordanian-Saudi military drill “Abdullah 5”, which kicked off last week, continued in Jubail Wednesday by the Royal Saudi Navy’s Eastern Fleet and Jordan’s Special Operation Forces.

The Abdullah 5 drill between the Jordanian and Saudi armed forces is part of a series of joint training programs between the armies of the two countries.

The drill aims at enhancing joint cooperation, exchanging expertise, developing military skills, training in counter-terrorism operations, dealing with ammunition and raising combat efficiency.

It includes day and night tactical firing, anti-terrorism and sniper shooting, coastal scout missions and raids. The participants were also trained on how to handle naval mines and improvised explosives, perform helicopters landings and remove coastal barriers.

Marine Lieutenant Abdullah al-Amri said that the drills include exercises on counter-terrorism, handling naval and land mines and carrying out building and coastal raids.

The three-week military drill is being carried out simultaneously in both Jordan and Saudi Arabia and will last until next week.
