Manama – Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday that the hacker of Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa’s Twitter account has been identified.

The investigation identified the hacker as a fugitive terrorist living outside of Bahrain and whose nationality had been revoked in a previous case.

The hacker took over the account for a short time before the Twitter management froze it and returned it to its original owner.

The Director General of Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security announced on Saturday that as part of the monitoring and follow up by the Cyber Crime Directorate, the department learned that the Twitter account of the foreign minister was hacked.

Commenting on the incident, Sheikh Khaled Al Khalifa said that the IT department in the ministry contacted the concerned officials in the United States and Dubai to recover the account and delete all the harmful tweets.
