Manama- Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa said that relations shared between Gulf Cooperation Council members and the United States are strong. Cooperation also covers many scopes and domains.

In a Thursday statement King Hamad hailed strong and deep-rooted historic ties binding the GCC countries with the U.S., voicing keenness on further consolidating relations and boosting cooperation with the new administration led by President-elect Donald Trump.

King Hamad’s speech was made after receiving GCC Foreign Ministers and Secretary General at the national Safriya Palace.

The ministers and Secretary General earlier held in Bahrain the 141st GCC Ministerial Council’s preparatory meeting for the 37th GCC Summit which will be hosted by Manama next month.

Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister was present at the reception. King Hamad voiced his deep appreciation of the notable and widespan achievements of the GCC across various political, economic, development, security and military fields over the last thirty five years.

King Hamad also commended GCC’s ability to brave major regional challenges and welcomed the foreign ministers, commending their efforts in bolstering Gulf cooperation to serve the interests of member states.

He voiced Bahrain’s devotion to further promote the GCC march during its presidency of the next session in order to achieve the aspirations of the GCC people for more integration and cooperation on the path of union.

Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled Bin Ahmad Al-Khalifa chaired the 141st ministerial session in which the Kingdom’s delegation was headed by Dr. Nizar Bin Obaid Madani, minister of state for foreign affairs.

In his speech, the FM highlighted issues submitted by the ministerial subcommittees with regard to the agenda of the GCC Supreme Council summit.
