Manama- The Gulf island nation of Bahrain has announced the official formation of security committees that will be responsible for backing the country’s security body.

The committees are assigned to study security cases in the governorates, coordinate related matters with concerned authorities and recommend ideas and projects to protect public order and security.

According to a statement issued by Bahrain’s Interior Minister, Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, four boards will be established.

He directed the formation of a security committee at each governorate that is headed by the governor and with the membership of the deputy governor, General Director of the police district, representatives of the General Directorate of Civil Defense, General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science and General Directorate of Traffic.

In the ministerial decree, committees will monitor security and propose a security strategy for each governorate respectively. The boards will also contribute to setting up security plans and programs.

Assigned panels are also responsible for improving security awareness and reviewing security subjects of the district, proposing solutions.

Each governor will refer periodic reports to the Interior Minister on the operations of the committee, wrote Bahrain’s state news agency.

Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa stressed the importance of taking comprehensive security procedures to protect and secure vital facilities. He also ordered a study to standardize working hours of shops within a general policy to protect people and their interests.

In a meeting the Bahrain top official had with state governors, he reviewed a number of projects and listened to a brief on the development of places of worship as to provide them with the required services.

The meeting also discussed a report on the removal of deserted cars. The minister directed to complete the process in coordination with police forces.

The Interior Minister addressed the proposal on issuing stamps featuring historical landmarks and civilized achievements in Bahrain to mark the 20th anniversary of the formation of governorates.

The General Director of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science briefed the meeting on a number of cases in all governorates from 2007 to August of this year.

The minister then stressed the importance of continuing the integrated work with all concerned authorities to promote community partnership. He thanked governors for hard work in serving the nation.
