Manama – A high criminal court in Bahrain decided on Sunday to postpone the verdict issuance in the case of Isa Qassim and two of his assistants until May 21.

This is the second time the court postpones issuing the verdict, as on March 14 the court had postponed its issuance date until May 7, 2017.

Qassim and members of his office, Hussein al-Mahrous and Mirza al-Dirazi, are tried for “illegal fund collections, money laundering and helping terrorism.” Collecting money in Bahrain requires the issuance of a permit from authorities.

Based on a previous statement, the public persecutor based his accusations on records that Qassim collected money without a permit against the laws and traditions, which prompted the money laundry charges.

Bahraini authorities stripped Qassim of his citizenship on June 20, 2016. They later dissolved the Islamic Enlightenment Institution, founded by him, in addition to the opposing al-Risala Islamic Association.
