Manama- Security forces from various GCC countries will hold “Arabian Gulf Security 1” in Bahrain end of 2016; this exercise aims at enhancing efficiency of security forces, increasing their ability to combat terrorist attacks and exchanging expertise.

This joint security exercise is the first of its kind where field-training will be conducted on the terrorist risks facing the region; ministries of interior decided during the last GCC meeting to hold a similar exercise every two years.

All risks facing the GCC countries will be taken into consideration and there will be simulation of security threats by terrorist groups.

Assistant Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training, Brigadier Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa inspected the site of the GCC joint security drill “Arabian Gulf Security 1” and the equipment of the administration team required to achieve its success.

Brigadier Hamad was also briefed on the preparations for holding the exercise.

“The event is an opportunity to exchange expertise among GCC security forces. It aims to provide training on dealing with various security situations, including countering terrorist acts,” he said. “A number of workshops and lectures will be held to boost cooperation among the participating forces”, he added.

The purpose of this drill is to boost readiness of security forces among the GCC countries through fostering cooperation and coordination in dealing with crises and emergencies.
