Manama – Isa Award for Services to Humanity (2015-2017) was awarded to Children’s Cancer Hospital of Egypt 57357(CCHE). It is the first time the award goes directly to a humanitarian organization, as the two previous awards honored people who had outstanding humanitarian and charity contributions.

During the ceremony, King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Thani said: “this award reflects the state of harmony, brotherhood, religious and cultural tolerance, charity, humanitarian service, and contribution in the human’s well-being which always characterized the Bahraini people.”

His Majesty expressed his gratitude for introducing this award to a foundation that has dedicated its efforts to treat children suffering from cancer. King Isa also considered that the Children’s Cancer Hospital provides its services in Egypt, a country that has great brotherhood ties with the kingdom.

Since its establishment, the hospital treated over 17,000 children suffering from cancer. Members of the hospital’s Board of Trustees revealed that a new establishment is being built and it will be named after the Prince Isa bin Salman.

In a press conference held on the sidelines of the honoring ceremony, the board’s members said the one-million dollar award will be spent on the upcoming expansions of the hospital.

The hospital’s Director and CEO Dr. Sharif Abu El Naja said the hospital treats children from all Arab and African countries in coordination with the Egyptian foreign ministry. He asserted that Hospital 57357 is the biggest center for cancer treatment in the world; it accommodates 320 beds and 300 more beds are expected to be added soon.

A Medical Science Academy will be launched in cooperation with Harvard University, along with a Nursing College in cooperation with the United Kingdom, as revealed by the Board of Trustees.
