Riyadh- The Saudi Interior Ministry released on Tuesday new information on the “Jeddah Cell,” saying the two suicide bombers who detonated themselves in Harazat district last Saturday were Saudi nationals Khalid Ghazi Hussain Al-Sarwani and Nadi Marzouq Al-Mudhaini Enazi.

The ministry added that “16 people linked to the case have been captured. They include three Saudis and the rest are Pakistanis.”

Investigations revealed that those involved in the cell had extensive regional experience in extremist activities, including building explosives and working for extremist media channels abroad.

The ministry said Al-Sarwani had offered support and assistance to perpetrators of the terrorist operation that targeted worshipers at a mosque of the Emergency Forces in Asir and the suicide bomber who carried out the terrorist attack at Al-Mashhad Mosque in Najran, in addition to his dangerous role in serving the deviant organization and its criminal plans through participating in manufacturing explosive belts and explosives in a laboratory in Harazat district.

The ministry also said that the main accused Hussam al-Jihani said that he got his orders from ISIS to rent a room to hide the two suicide bombers in Harazat neighborhood. The accused took them from one point in Quraysh street in Jeddah, and they were both disguised in women clothing.

As for the second suicide bomber, Nadi Marzouq Al-Mudhaini Enazi, the ministry said he was also previously convicted of several crimes.

It said Enazi started his deviant activity with an Anti-Saudi media channel broadcasting from abroad. Then, he joined terrorists in conflict zones from where he was returned. After having served his punishment legally, he continued to accept instructions originating from deviant thoughts and his engagements in the terrorist activities with Iqab Mejeb Al-Otaibi (detained person), Sweilem Al-hadi Al-Rwaili who was arrested on 01/06/1437H, and Abdulmalik Al-Badi who was arrested on 06/08/1436H for his involvement in the killing of Majid Ayed Al-Ghamdi, a soldier at the Strategic Warehouse on 19/07/1436H.

Security authorities searching the site of explosion in Harazat district found three grenades, eight explosive templates, 48 bags containing chemical materials used in manufacturing explosive materials, three electronic balances, two metal cylindrical tubes, 10 domestically-manufactured explosive square metal devices, two adhesive metal explosives, six bags including metal pieces in large quantities, a collection of tools, electrical devices and medical needles for preparing explosive materials, a collection of electronic boards to manufacture booby-trapped bombs, three gas canisters, two machine guns, one pistol, 165 live bullets, and six pistol shots.

The investigations are still continuing as the above-mentioned results confirmed the threat posed by this terrorist cell and its main role in manufacturing explosive belts and bombs in order to commit its heinous crimes within continuous endeavors of the terrorist organizations to target the security and stability of the Kingdom.
