Riyadh–The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz received Vice President of the Republic of Argentina Gabriela Michetti and her accompanying delegation.

The King and the Argentine Vice President held a session of talks during which they reviewed relations between the two countries and ways of their development and enhancement in various fields.

The King held wide-ranging talks with Michetti on bilateral, regional and international issues, and reviewed the relations between the Kingdom and Argentina in different sectors.

Michetti stressed that Saudi Arabia and Argentina can have a strategic role, adding that trade exchange between the two countries is relatively lower than what could actually be achieved.

The VP revealed the joint cooperation on developing nuclear power. She also expressed Argentina’s willingness to increase government cooperation in trade, investment, and scientific research.

Speaking about the attack on the Jewish community center in 1994, Michetti said evidence shows that some Iranian suspects are involved, yet Iran didn’t commit to its duty to bring the criminals to justice.

She added that the Argentinian government formed a committee to investigate the incident.

Michetti said that Argentina would want Iran to abide by the laws and not just protect itself.

The VP stressed that there are no activities or money laundering cases of the so-called Lebanese Hezbollah in her country.

She also added that cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Argentina increased after the Kingdom hosted the summit of South American-Arab Countries.

Speaking about Vision 2030, Michetti said that the Saudi Vision increases cooperation between both countries.

“The talks with top Saudi officials focused on several commercial and political issues of common interest, which will go a long way in cementing ties,” said Argentine Ambassador Jaime Sergio Cerda about the talks of Michetti during her stay in the Saudi capital.

Two-way trade between the Kingdom and Argentina exceeds $1 billion annually. The South American country exports large quantities of frozen chicken, fruits, vegetables, corn, among others. Its imports include petrochemicals.

The King wished the Argentine Vice President a pleasant stay in the Kingdom; while she expressed her thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the warm reception and generous hospitality accorded to her.

The audience and the session were attended by Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh region; Prince Mansour bin Miteb bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State, Cabinet’s Member and Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Minister of National Guard; Minister of State and Cabinet’s Member Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban; Minister of Finance Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf; Minister of State, Cabinet’s Member and Acting Minister of Culture and Information Essam bin Saad bin Said; Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Engineer Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli; and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nizar bin Obaid Madani.

For his part, King Salman expressed thanks of the Nigerian president for disapproving the attempt to target Mecca, and denounced the two bombings which took place in Maiduguri, Northern Nigeria, calling Allah to save Nigeria, its people and to maintain security and safety of the Muslim community.
