The Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman who is also the Second Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Defence held talks with the President of the Republic of Burkina Faso Roch Marc Christian Kabore in Riyadh during which they reviewed bilateral cooperation between the two countries and a number of topics of common interest, including the coordination of efforts to fight terrorism in the framework of the Islamic military alliance.
In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, President Marc Christian confirmed at the end of his visit to Saudi Arabia that the country was keen to establish world peace and is very interested in African issues and the challenges that the continent faces. He also said that Saudi Arabia plays a central and leading role in bringing stability to the region.
President Marc Christian said his country commends the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz’s efforts to establish peace in Yemen and Syria. He added that the fight against terrorism and exhausting the resources of terrorists are Burkina Faso and Saudi Arabia’s top priorities, and confirmed that the views of the two leaderships on this matter are convergent. The President of Burkina Faso also pointed out that his country was one of the first countries that supported and joined the Islamic alliance to fight terrorism led by Saudi Arabia.
The Burkinabe President explained that his visit to Saudi Arabia culminated in the formation of a joint committee to speed up cooperation between the two countries. He said that among the achievements of the visit was the development of a plan to attract Saudi investors to the livestock industries. He also said that his country is facing challenges in the areas of farming and the gold and cotton industries.
President Faso Roch Marc Christian Kabore described his visit to Saudi Arabia as “historic” and said that it represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the economic, political, developmental and security fields. He continued by saying that the Saudi Development Fund’s is financing some projects in his country and that this is of paramount importance.
