Dubai- HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has approved the new cabinet of the federal government. Accordingly, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the twelfth government of the UAE as part of the largest structural change in the country’s history.

The announcement influences organizational structure and functions of key ministries and includes the support of several new Ministers of State to meet the ongoing demands of an evolving economic and social landscape.
The new government comprises 29 ministers, and includes eight new ministers, five of whom are women. The average age of the new ministers is only 38 years; with the youngest minister being a 22-year-old female.

The new government includes ministers for Tolerance, Future, Youth, Happiness and Climate Change.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that the new government and 12th Cabinet was announced after consultations with HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and after the approval of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE. He confirmed that the new team would lead in achieving the future aspirations of the nation.

The new government structure includes Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum – Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum – Cabinet Member, Minister of Finance, and Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan – Cabinet Member, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

In addition, it also includes Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan – Cabinet Member, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi – Cabinet Member, Minister of State for Tolerance, Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Gergawi – Cabinet Member, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Future, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri – Cabinet Member, Minister of Economy, Dr. Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammed Bin Nasser Al Owais – Cabinet Member, Minister of Health and Prevention.

Furthermore, Saqr Bin Ghubash Saeed Ghubash serves as Cabinet Member, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization, Dr. Anwar Bin Mohammed Gargash – Cabinet Member, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Obaid Bin Humaid Al Tayer – Cabinet Member, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy – Cabinet Member, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Al Mazroui – Cabinet Member, Minister of Energy, in addition to 16 other ministers.

UAE has named a female cabinet member as the minister of happiness in an attempt to make the Gulf state the world’s happiest place.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said that Ohood Al Roumi will become the first minister of the new happiness department. “We introduced the post of Minister of State for Happiness whose mission is to channel policies and plans to achieve a happier society,” the ruler of Dubai tweeted.

Moreover, the new Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Shamma al Mazrui, has obtained her Masters of Public Policy with distinction from the University of Oxford. She currently works at one of Abu Dhabi’s Sovereign Wealth Funds.
Al Mazrui has previously worked as a public policy analyst with the UAE Mission to the United Nations. She has also worked as a Ministry Policy Analyst with the Prime Minister’s Office and participated in the Youth Lab Innovation Think Tank.
