Cairo- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has reiterated the need for fortifying the mindsets of youth against darkened extremist ideology which is notably spreading worldwide.
Sisi called on the Arab ministers of youth affairs, at the Monday Cairo meeting, to spend efforts on filling up the void, which can lead to youth engaging in radicalism or extremism if left unattended.
The Egyptian president received in Cairo the ministers of the Council for Arab Minister of Youth Affairs in Arab countries, for the council’s 39th session. The meeting was also attended by the Egyptian Minister for Youth and Sports Khaled Abdelaziz.
Egypt’s Presidential Spokesperson Alaa Youssef made a statement confirming commitment to youth affairs, especially in light of rapidly developing social media in our world today.
He also urged protecting Arab youth against violent ideology affecting them, in addition to bolstering the notion on preserving statehood and national institutions.
Sisi also declared that improving the quality of education is imperative to resourcefully investing youth potential in all domains. A better education system will aid in spreading true awareness amongst youth, preparing them to confront false ideology, he explained.
President Sisi also gave emphasis to the influential role played by media in affecting youth in general. He reaffirmed that monitoring and developing the message transferred by media is underway to help increase youth awareness across different sectors.
Presidential Spokesperson Youssef clarified that the president had listened to proposals given by Arab ministers, who also recapped the importance of activating an Arab strategy for the youth and sports sector across the region, in addition to promoting tolerance and acceptance of others.
Activities of the League of Arab States (LAS) Council for Arab Minister of Youth Affairs kicked off on Monday. In keeping with that, the Egyptian Minister for Youth and Sports Abdelaziz stated that over 30 activities were established this year alone under the framework of the LAS.
The Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports concluded their 39th session which was held at the Cairo headquarters of the Arab League, under the chairmanship of Lebanon.
The Council also resolved to grant a $100,000 support endowment to the Palestinian sports activities, which will be held this year in the city of Ramallah.
The Saudi delegation to the session was headed by Dr. Mansour Al-Mansour, Assistant President of General Administration of Sports, reported SPA.
