Jordan emphasised the depth and strength of its relations with Saudi Arabia and also affirmed its support for the Islamic alliance led by Riyadh. An official source at the Royal Hashemite Court said that “the relations between Jordan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are deep”, confirming Jordan’s continuing support of Saudi Arabia in all circumstances. The source also emphasised the importance of confronting the threat of terrorism by strengthening joint Arab and Muslim action, and continued by saying that recent media reports attributing comments to Jordan’s King Abdullah II are a falsification, aim to offend Jordan and harm its relations with friendly countries.

In the meantime, Jordanian parliamentarians and politicians agreed on the strength of Jordan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia and said that the visions of the two countries relating to various issues were very compatible. The Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications and the Spokesman for the Jordanian Government Dr Mohammad Al-Momani said that there is a convergence of visions between Jordan and Saudi Arabia and cooperation at various levels in the two countries. He also stressed that the “cooperation between Saudi and Jordanian businessmen” is ongoing.

On his part, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of Jordan Bassam Al-Manaseer said that the two countries have a lot in common and that “Saudi Arabia supports Jordan politically and economically and therefore we must continue to strengthen and reinforce this relationship”.
