Amman- The Jordanian State Security Court (SSC) continued reviewing the case of Rukban terrorist acts involving five Syrian suspects.

Defense lawyer of the convicts Bashir Aqili, who was appointed by the court to defend the accused at the expense of the Jordanian government as they couldn’t afford to hire one, presented his defense documents during the public hearing session that was held amidst high-security measures.

The court set 21 May as a deadline for providing witness statements and pieces of evidence in this case.

The accused men from the terrorist cell denied the charges pressed against them during the previous session that was held in March, claiming they were “not guilty” after the court asked them.

In a common matter, the State Security Court charged 11 individuals, Tuesday, involved in the Karak terror attacks, including one fugitive in absentia, with 15 counts of terrorism and conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism in Jordan.

It also charged them with abetting terrorists, illegally possessing firearms and ammunition and unlawfully manufacturing explosives.

In addition to that, SSC on Wednesday looked into 19 cases involving terrorism charges amid tight security.

The cases involved the promotion of ISIS extremist group’s ideology and attempts to join terrorist groups.
