Oman- Talal Abu Ghazaleh, head of the United Nations World Information Technology And Services Alliance (WITSA) said that with development in today’s world of knowledge and information revolution, we have entered the age of artificial intelligence.

He told Asharq Al-Awsat that self-parking cars are the simplest example of artificial intelligence, adding that things will develop in the future so that everything in this world would become smart and beneficial without the need for human intervention.

Abu Ghazaleh pointed out that in 2050, there would be no more universities or schools like today and their role would be limited to the educational process with communication and information technology being integrated with education.

“Digital education will be the future education whether it is good or not – this is a controversial topic especially that it is a wide space that permits huge alternatives and opens great horizons,” he added.

According to him, social media has granted users the possibility of entering a wide space that provides many alternatives in this new world.

He affirmed that the world economy has started to enter a new phase which is the knowledge economy. “The world is a step away from knowledge economy and there will be no trade except in knowledge,” he said.

Abu Ghazaleh continued, “knowledge firms will dominate the world regardless of the product’s nature.
