Marine Le Pen’s Far-Right National Front collapsed in French regional elections  on Dec.13, failing to take a single region after dominating the first round of voting, pollsters predicted.
Le Pen was handed a bitter loss in the northern region with 42 percent of the vote compared with Bertrand’s 57.5 percent, who took advantage of the withdrawal of the Left Party and called the Socialist Party to vote for him to defeat the Far-Right  National Front. The same thing happened with Le Pen’s niece, Marion Marechal-Le Pen, who also lost in the Mediterranean coastal region.
With the final results, it seems that all the dreams of the Far-Right have come to an end, especially after they escalated theirxenophobic and islamophobic rhetoric, which mobilized supporters to turn their anger against vulnerable minorities.
The second round’s surprise was the victory of the Socialist Party, headed by President François Hollande, who maintained his position more than he has ever expected. According to the initial results, the Socialist Party and its allies, the Greens, theCommunists and the Left Front, won six regions including Normandy, where the struggle between the Left and the Rightfronts was at its peak.
The participation in the elections was very high as it reached 60 percetn. Despite Le Pen’s loss, she didn’t hesitate to express joy from the results of the second round. From his part, the French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, warned that the far right remains a “danger” despite the defeat, and urged his country to rally together against extremism. He noted that France knows how to maintain its values in the moment of truth.

In addition, the Republicans, headed by the former president, Nicolas Sarkozy, appeared the biggest loser regardless of the regions his party has won, and this will open the battle of running for the presidency in the coming weeks and months.
