Washington – The US Department of State’s Rewards for Justice program announced a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the identification or location of al-Nusra Front’s leader Abu Mohammed al-Joulani.

In 2013, Joulani pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda and its leadership. In 2016, he lauded a video for al-Qaeda that went viral online. Headed by Joulani, Nusra Front conducted several terrorist attacks throughout Syria and targeted civilians – mostly.

Nusra Front also kidnapped around 300 Kurds in April 2015 then released them later on. It also claimed responsibility for killing 20 from a Druze village in Idlib.

In May 2013, Joulani was named a specially designated global terrorist, by the US State Department according to executive order 13224. The Security Council Committee on sanctions also designated him a terrorist, subjecting him to travel-ban, arms-export ban and international freezing.

The US Department of State called on people who have information to contact the Rewards for Justice Program whether by phone or email and confidentiality is guaranteed.
