Cairo-The Government of National Accord (GNA), step by step, began anchoring its authority in Tripoli- Capital of Libya- a week after getting inside the city.

However, the Tripoli government issued a presidential announcement, in which it irrevocably refused to step down from authority, casting dark shadows over hopes on restoring stability to Libya.

Fayez Serraj’s GNA administration demanded that all ministries and governmental institutions in Libya employ its seal. Serraj’s government also requested that the Central Bank and Audit Bureau in Libya freeze all ministerial, committee, and public interest accounts, except the payroll of governmental employees.

The GNA also strengthened its position by electing Abdul-Rahman al-Swehli a president for the government’s supreme council.

Prime Minister of the National Salvation Government of Libya Khalifa al-Ghawi denied any news circulated on his administration relinquishing authority.

Ghawi’s government, on its official Facebook social webpage, published that a forged announcement on it officially renouncing authority and handing it over to Serraj’s administration is being circulated.

Ghawi’s administration issued an announcement prohibiting any infringement of governmental quarters, and requesting that all actions be put on hold until a comprehensive political solution is realized.

The statement also informed all security bodies accounted for protecting all governmental institutions and offices to commit to assigned duties and employing all necessary procedures, as to avert any security breaches and any perverse violations. “We ask, what is acknowledged as the Presidential Council of Libya to understand, respect institutions and commit to the law. May God forbid, if any

violation takes place, we will be holding the Council responsible,” the statement added.

All and above, Ghawi’s administration claimed to have been deliberating with effective countries of the international community, which are concerned about Libyan affairs, in hopes of persuading them to get involved in obstructing the Head of United Nations Support Mission in Libya Martin Kobler’s actions, guaranteeing that the U.N. remains unbiased regarding Libyan affairs.

Ghawi’s administration hopes that the U.N. doesn’t go overboard with imposing an interim government on the people of Libya.
