In today’s globalized world, “affiliation” can no longer be measured against the identity of the state to which one belongs to or to the place in which one lives. Today, affiliation could be likened to tribal affiliation. There are the tribes of Facebook, an influential and increasingly popular website and there are the Starbucks Coffee tribes that have transformed the simple act of drinking coffee into an integral culture. The examples are numerous, all of which point towards the same direction and share the same objective.

These “tribes” play a central and active role in breaking boundaries and forming “new” and diverse identities that establish links between people in the same way that affiliation and communication exists between the people of one nation. These “tribes” influence supply and demand within the world’s economies, open up markets, add to the success of products that were once not feasible or popular and set new and important standards that had never existed before. As a result, the rules of the game are being changed once again at the demand of the weakest but largest circle.

These “tribes” raise the level of the means of influence (even if they do so in a somewhat indirect and random manner) through international institutions and organizations such as the Greenpeace Foundation, World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Olympic Committee, the Human Rights Organization and others.

All of these organizations have an important influence in creating policies and legislations through the power of pressure groups, which have achieved significant results in the political, social, economic and cultural fields.

The activity of these “tribes”, which are loyal to different media, slogans and parties, will become more apparent with the increase and completion of institutional action to which they are affiliated. These “tribes” help to achieve transparency and uncover irregularities after traditional apparatus concerned with certain matters proved to be ineffective. With an increase in authority and efficiency, “tribes” will substantially and clearly contribute to the removal of all forms of state sovereignty to offer a new “globalized” model that will represent the alternative and the agreed upon reference.

The Quran states: “We have created you male and female and made you nations and tribes so that you may know one another,” (Surat Al Hujraat, Verse 13). This is the greatest kind of knowledge; the knowledge of rights and obligations, and the actual accomplishment of a system of communication.
