Washington- Many famous U.S. stores have stopped selling all Ivanka Trump brand goods in their stores and websites.

Products of the U.S. President Donald Trump’s daughter have disappeared from renowned stores including Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Sears, Burlington, and many online websites; while other stores like T.J. Maxx and Marshalls have removed the trademark from their main selling websites and showed its products in the reductions departments.

These steps stirred a huge wave of criticism and accusation against stores of taking political-based decisions and launching campaigns to boycott Ivanka Trump’s products through a hashtag “#Grab_your_wallet”, which encouraged customers to stop dealing with companies holding Trump’s name.

The weekend witnessed a storm of comments among Trump’s supporters and those who oppose him; some considered that stores have taken a political position, because unlike the stores’ allegations, Ivanka’s products have always been lucrative.

On the other hand, anti-Trump Americans said that the boycott of Ivanka’s trademark has kicked off months ago, when Donald Trump’s statements assaulting women were leaked. These offenses have encouraged consumers on taking serious steps in boycotting his daughters’ products; left-winged activists considered the boycott a sort of domino influence and a growing anger against Trump’s policies.

Stores said that they stopped selling Ivanka’s products because of the low customer demand. Nordstrom stores for luxury clothes said that Ivanka’s clothes are low-quality products and do not bring lucrative sales. Officials from the company said that the decision of removing these products was taken based on a commercial non-political decision; many other stores have launched similar statements.

Days before the announcement of Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus on stopping sales of Ivanka Trump’s products, Sears and Kmart announced to stop marketing furniture, lightning products, and chandeliers from the same trademark. Spokesperson to Sears Brian Hanover said the company aimed at targeting most selling products.

The Wall Street Journal noted that Nordstrom’s data showed a clear drop in Ivanka Trump’s clothing line selling by 32%, while shoes and bags sales dropped to USD14.3 million compared to USD20.9 million last year.

President Trump has defended his daughter on Twitter and criticized Nordstrom. White House press secretary Sean Spicer defended Trump’s tweet; saying that boycotting Ivanka’s products has targeted her and her father, and that it was expected from the president to defend his daughter who was attacked because of political conflicts.

President Trump’s Senior Counselor Kellyanne Conway also defended Ivanka’s trademark and called people to buy her products. Democrats accused Conway of using her position in a personal illegal way. A democrat Senate has called the authorities to investigate such behavior considered as a violation of the government ethics law.

The Office of Government Ethics wrote in a letter made public on Tuesday that the White House should consider disciplinary action against presidential adviser Conway for appearing to violate government ethics rules by publicly endorsing Ivanka Trump products.
