Washington- U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his pledge to eradicate ISIS from the face of the planet and warned the American intelligence agencies to be ready for wars.

Trump told the CIA it had his full support on Saturday as he paid a visit to mend fences after publicly rejecting its assessment that Russia tried to help him win the U.S. election.

“I am with you 1,000 percent,” Trump said in a short address to CIA staff after his visit to the agency headquarters in Virginia.

“I love you, I respect you,” he told members of the U.S. intelligence community.

“We’re all on the same wavelength, right?” he asked, referring in particular to the fight against ISIS.

“We have not used the real abilities that we have. We’ve been restrained. We have to get rid of ISIS.”

In his inaugural speech on Friday, the new U.S. President vowed to “unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism” and pledged to “eradicate (it) completely from the face of the Earth”.

In his speech at the CIA headquarters, Trump went a step ahead and warned his intelligence officials and the American nation that the war against the radical form of Islam was far from over.

Trump said that when he was young, he heard from one of his instructors that “the United States has never lost a war.” But now, “it’s like we haven’t won anything. We don’t win anymore.”

“We have to get rid of ISIS. Have to get rid of ISIS. We have no choice,” he declared, earning a warm applause from the audience.

“There can be wars between countries, there can be wars.… This is a level of evil that we haven’t seen. And you’re going to go to it, and you’re going to do a phenomenal job. But we’re going to end it. It’s time. It’s time right now to end it,” he said.

Trump also criticized the U.S. media for reporting that he had a feud with the American intelligence community. “They are among the most dishonest human beings on Earth,” he said.

He condemned media reporting of the number of people attending his inauguration.

During his visit to the CIA, he said that it “looked like a million and a half people,” but provided no evidence.

He called reporters “among the most dishonest human beings on Earth” for saying it was far lower.

His press secretary Sean Spicer outlined figures amounting to 720,000 people in Washington’s National Mall, despite also saying that “no-one had numbers” for the inauguration.

He also said it was the “largest audience to ever witness an inauguration – period – both in person and around the globe.”
