New York – New York Police Department has allowed the holding of a demonstration in one of the streets leading to the United Nations headquarters on Tuesday, as tens of Iranian-Americans rallied against the President Hassan Rouhani’s regime.

The demonstration was arranged by the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC) on the opening day of the U.N. General Assembly to protest the visit to the U.N. by President Rouhani and call for a halt in Tehran’s extensive funding and sponsoring of terrorism in the region.

Protesters also demanded a halt in the executions in Iran and called for the prosecution of the regime’s leaders.

OIAC is based in Washington and has branches in 40 American states.

Demonstrators voiced their resentment over Rouhani’s visit to the United States, noting that he is not less dangerous than North Korea’s leader. They added that Tehran represented a major threat to world’s security.

A number of Syrians from Aleppo also joined the demonstration, raising slogans that condemned Iran’s blatant interference in Syria’s internal affairs.

Hisham Najjar, an engineer from Aleppo, said that Iran was supporting Assad’s domination over Syria.

Addressing the protesters, the head of the U.N. Court for War Crimes, Geoffrey Robertson, said that the crimes committed by the Iranian regime were “indescribable and considered as crimes against humanity”.

Earlier this year, thousands of people took to the streets of Paris and staged mock executions to protest against the visit of Rouhani.

Among the spectacles at the massive demonstration was a platform of people who acted out hangings to symbolize the thousands of executions that have taken place while Rouhani has been in power.
