Washington-Less than two hours after declassified pages from a congressional report into the 9/11 attacks were released Friday, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said his government welcomed the release of the 28 pages on the inquiry carried out by a committee in Congress, U.S. intelligence and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Jubeir told reporters at a press conference he held at the Saudi Embassy in Washington on Friday night that the congressional inquiry proved once again that there is no evidence into the involvement of the Saudi government or Saudi officials in the 9/11 attacks.

The Foreign Minister described the release of the pages as “positive,” saying the U.S. government agencies have come to the conclusion that is very clear – “there is no Saudi government involvement or involvement by Saudi officials in the events of 9/11.”

“We will be able to turn the page of the past and look to the future and not the past,” he said.

“The matter is now finished,” Jubeir told the news conference.

The Saudi Foreign Minister said that his country itself has urged the release of the chapter so the kingdom could respond to any allegations and to punish any person who is proved to have been involved in the attacks.

Asked about alleged contacts between officials from the Saudi consulate in California and two of the perpetrators of the attacks, the minister said that governments in the world have become more cautious in their dealings.

The pages have revealed that some people took advantage of the generosity of Saudi officials, he added.
