New York- Officials in the US administration affirmed that the US President Donald Trump will continue his attempts to fill the gap and seek a solution for the Qatari crisis. Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, participating in the General Assembly session, said that the solution to the crisis liens in Qatar’s hands.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly session, foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and UAE held an advisory meeting on Monday to discuss the Qatar crisis and means to deal with it.

The meeting was attended by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash, UAE Ambassador to Washington Yousef al-Otaiba and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.

The four FMs stressed the importance of maintaining security in the region and calling on Doha to implement the 13 demands.

Following a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York, Jubeir stressed that resolving the crisis is in Doha’s hands since the crisis was caused by the state’s failure to stop supporting terrorism and interfering in other countries’ internal affairs.

For his part, Shukri said that the advisory meeting was fruitful and positive, by which all four states asserted the united stance against Qatar’s financing of terrorism.

The political solution for the crisis has been asserted as well as Qatar’s implementation of the 13 demands, added Shukri. “We look forward to building a natural relation with Qatar, on condition that it halts support of terrorism and intervention in the region’s internal affairs,” he said.
