Dammam- Pressures on the Iranian regime have intensified especially after the diplomatic procedures taken by several other countries towards Tehran in their protest against the assaults on Saudi Embassy and its Public Consulate in Iran.

Jordan called on Iran’s ambassador to Amman on Wednesday to condemn the attack on Saudi Arabia’s Embassy in Tehran considering it a “blatant violation of international conventions”.

Moreover, on Wednesday Jan.6, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz received a phone call from His Majesty King Abdullah, who renewed Jordan’s full support for Saudi Arabia in its efforts to combat terrorism and extremism and to protect its security and stability. His Majesty strongly condemned the attacks on the Saudi embassy in Tehran. For his part, the Saudi King thanked Jordan for its support.

Djibouti followed Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Sudan and decided to cut ties with Iran. Djibouti’s ambassador to Riyadh, Dya-Eddin Bamakhrama, told Asharq Al-Awsat that his country has cut diplomatic relations with Iran amid a diplomatic crisis with its ally, Saudi Arabia.

In addition, Qatar recalled its ambassador to Iran after its ally Saudi Arabia cut ties with Tehran following attacks on Saudi missions by Iranian protesters. Qatar’s foreign ministry described the embassy attack as a “violation of international charters and norms that ensure the security and protection of diplomatic missions and their members”. Oman, meanwhile, denounced the attacks on the Saudi diplomatic posts in Iran as “unacceptable”. It stressed the “need to find new rules that prohibit any form of interference in the internal affairs of other countries.”

In Ankara, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that the execution of a Shia cleric and 46 other people in Saudi Arabia was an “internal legal matter”. In a speech to local officials, Erdogan said, “Only three [of those executed] were Shia”.

Amidst these criticisms and pressure put on Iran, Bahrain has announced foiling a secret terrorist plot aided by the so-called Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the Hezbollah terrorist organization.
