Riyadh- A Saudi source told Asharq al-Awsat that military experts commenced on Monday inspecting the missile launched by Houthi forces in Yemen on Saudi Arabia. The source added that inspection will reveal the type of missile which targeted Taif on Monday and its manufacturing source.
Saudi Arabia is also carrying on diplomatic actions in the Security Council to tackle the must-take procedures following Houthis intensified missile attack on Saudi territories.
Saudi Envoy to the U.N. Abdullah al-Mouallemi demanded that the Security Council takes responsibility and combats Iranian violation of the U.N. resolutions, on top of them resolution number 2216 related to the Yemeni matter.
The Kingdom affirmed in a written statement handed out to the U.N. its right to face threats imposed by Houthi militias in all ways possible.
Moreover, Mouallemi told Asharq al-Awsat that there are ongoing pursuits to have the Security Council’s attention on necessary procedures due to intensive missile attacks by Houthis on Saudi territories and on regions far from the Saudi-Yemeni borders.
Regarding U.N. movements to reinforce a political solution in the Yemeni crisis and put pressure on Houthis to resume negotiations, Mouallemi said, “U.N. special envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, is exerting political efforts supported by International support. On the Saudi level, there is an endorsement to the approach adopted to accelerate the political solution.”
“If there is tardiness in the quest to a political solution, it is indeed from the opposite party, the Houthis and Yemen ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh group, because they are renouncing international obligations,” added Mouallemi.
