Riyadh, Jeddah-Saudi Arabia stressed on Sunday the Kingdom’s firm stance towards the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The position was made during a meeting held on Sunday between Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at Al Salam Palace in Jeddah.

Palestinian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Bassem Abdullah al-Agha, who attended the meeting between King Salman and President Abbas, told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that the King renewed his country’s commitment to support the Palestinian cause, which has not changed since the reign of Saudi Arabia’s founder King Abdulaziz.

Al-Agha said Saudi politics has always been accompanied with true actions by showing support to the Palestinian people, and the protection of Palestinian legitimacy.

The ambassador said that Abbas informed King Salman about the internal situation concerning Palestinian affairs, and thanked the King for his supportive and solid positions at the economic, political and financial levels, which are represented in the Saudi development plans in the West Bank and Gaza.

Abbas is currently on a visit to Saudi Arabia.

The talks were attended by Prince Khalid al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah region; Prince Dr. Mansour bin Miteb bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State, Cabinet Member and Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Minister of National Guard; Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier and Interior Minister; Minister of State and Cabinet Member Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Nizar bin Obaid Madani.

From the Palestinian side, the meeting was attended by a number of officials, including al-Agha.
