Dr. Abdullah Al-Moqbel, Saudi Minister of Transport, clarified that the agreement on regulating road transport of goods between Arab countries , approved on Dec.14 by the Saudi Council of Ministers, aims to facilitate the transportation process in order to support  inter-Arab commercial transport as well as promote cooperation and exchange freight transport experience.

He indicated that the process regulates the loading of cargo goods on the return trip from the destination country to the country where the merchandise will be registered. The agreement also works to facilitate the entry of empty cargo trucks, which are registered for regularization under the loading of goods agreement, into the country of regularization or a third country.

Saeed Albssami, Deputy of the National Committee for road transport in the Council of Saudi Chambers told Asharq-Al-Awsat that this agreement complements what has been agreed on by the Arab League, which stipulates facilitating the flow and passage of trade between Arab countries that in turn reflects positively on the general system of transport, pointing out that being put into action would eliminate several obstacles and challenges facing regional road transport.

Economic expert, Moatasem al-Ahmad, said that Saudi Arabia entering the inter-Arab countries transport of goods agreement is a substantial addition, given that Saudi Arabia is considered to be one of the twenty strongest economies in the world, and is a country that attracts multiple freight and commercial movement.
The Saudi Council of Ministers has approved on this agreement of the inter-Arab countries road transport of goods with the reservation of rights to enforcing provisions under this agreement that do not default GCC Common Customs Law on any import, export, or transit goods.
