Jeddah-The Saudi General Syndicate of Cars signed an agreement to establish a unified platform to electronically monitor movement of buses affiliated with companies that are responsible for transporting pilgrims and that fall under the umbrella of the syndicate.

The agreement aims at increasing the level of coordination among all parties participating in Hajj season.

Acting Secretary General of the General Syndicate of Cars Osama Samkari explained that a unified e-map will be established to monitor the movement of buses with the arrival of the first batch of pilgrims until the departure of the last one.

Samkari said data on the movement of buses and transport companies will be collected and presented on a unified electronic map at the syndicate.

He said officials of the syndicate and the ministry will be able to monitor the movement of buses inside Makkah, Madinah, the Holy Sites, on the roads and the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to quickly undertake any necessary action in times of emergencies.

Samkari said more than 16,000 buses will be transporting Haj pilgrims, and the project will be implemented in a period of 30 months.

For his part, Advisor in Hajj and Umrah Affairs Saad al-Qurashi told Asharq Al-Awsat that the improvement of monitoring contributes to better bus tasks according to the specified time and track.

In addition to that, this move coincides with raising the efficiency of buses and developing them to stay on track with the public transport system that is carried out in the country.

The General Syndicate of Cars aims to organize and direct the transportation of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, students and tourists.

The objective of the syndicate is to ensure a safe transportation of pilgrims.

Its mission is to provide well-organized and diversified services to pilgrims with the highly sophisticated means of transport in compliance with safety standards and environment protection criteria.

Moreover, the objectives of the syndicate are to check transport services provided by pilgrims transport operators through direct coordination, provide maintenance and operating services on the roads, pilgrimage cities and the Holy Places, and deliver a full spectrum of multi-faced services.
