Bolivia’s Technological and Industrial Cooperation with Saudi Arabia


Moscow – Bolivian Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy said that his country is looking forward to improving its economic relations with Saudi Arabia in fields of energy, industry, agriculture, and atomic industry.

Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, the minister anticipated the Arab capabilities, led by Saud Arabia, to integrate with capabilities in countries of South America.

Bolivian Minister said that the Summit of South American – Arab countries in Riyadh set a road map to take the economic relations between the countries into a new level. He added that his country is ready for technological and industrial cooperation with Saudi Arabia.

The minister explained that his country continues to develop its nuclear program as Russia pledged to increase cooperation with Bolivia. He added that Bolivia is planning on building its first nuclear reactor confirming that nuclear technology will be used for peaceful purposes.

Minister of Hydrocarbons spoke of a cooperation between Bolivia and Russian Nuclear Energy Corporation “Rosatom” to build a nuclear energy research center.

During “AtomExpo 2016” in Moscow, Russia, the Bolivian minister said that his country is setting a strategy for Bolivia to complete this project within the coming 10 years. He confirmed that the extensive plan will include many aspects that shall enable the country to develop technologically and scientifically.

Bolivia is considered the world’s greatest tin producer and has the largest supply of natural gas in South America. Bolivia exports zinc, lead, gold and silver along with oil through the pipe on Arica Port, and imports gas to Argentina.
