Riyadh – The Saudi-British Joint Business Council is seeking to launch new partnerships in the field of advanced industries, according to the Council’s co-chair, Nasser Al-Mutawa.

In remarks to Asharq al-Awsat newspaper, Al-Mutawa said that the joint business council held two economic forums in each of London and Dammam, where several new partnerships were forged.

The forums also witnessed the launching of small businesses in the field of technology, energy and contracting, as well as other vital fields.

Al-Mutawa noted that the Council of Saudi Chambers was organizing the visit of a delegation from the Saudi-British Joint Business Council to Britain on May 9-11. He added that the visit aimed to discuss means to promote economic and investment cooperation between the two sides and expand collaboration in advanced industries.

Al-Mutawa, who will head the delegation to Britain, said that the visit “comes within the framework of the Council’s open session, which runs from 2016 until 2019,” adding that discussions would mainly focus on research and projects related to advanced industries and the means to support scientific and technological capabilities of the Saudi industrial sector.

The delegation would visit the city of Sheffield, which is one of the most important industrial hubs in the United Kingdom, and would hold meetings with British businessmen to discuss the means to forge new partnerships that would promote economic, investment and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

Al-Mutawa said the upcoming discussions would take advantage of the outcome of the visit of British Prime Minister Theresa May to Saudi Arabia last month.

The Council’s co-chair noted in this regard that the delegation would present investment opportunities within Saudi Vision 2030 and prospects of economic and investment cooperation in the wake of Britain’s exit from the European Union.
