Cairo- Tawfiq al-Hakim, a prominent Egyptian writer, had a dream back in the sixties and it has finally come true. Hakim once said he dreamed of seeing small wooden carriages dragged by clean donkeys in streets, parked in squares and school yards and loaded with magnificent books. Today, this dream has come true through the efforts of a young Egyptian lady Hadir Mansour and her colleague Mohammad Badr. These two youngsters wander the streets of Cairo and its suburbs on a bicycle, dragging a small wooden carriage loaded with books.

Hadir and Mohammad park their carriage, full of English and Arabic books in front of malls, residential complexes and schools.

Hadir has a rich experience from working in a publishing house library. She turned a room in her house into a storeroom of books. With her colleague Mohammad, she designed the carriage. Mansour said that they both were eager to design it with an attractive look, and a special place to show books, so children can check them and choose their favorites. She added that the best part of this project is when she sees a small child pushing his parents to approach the carriage and buy a book from her.
