Aden, Taiz, Najran- Saudi Aramco denied that it was targeted, assuring that all of its facilities are safe and operating normally, in a statement issued on Friday.

Aramco’s statement followed claims by Iranian channels that an Aramco oil facility was targeted in Najran, south of Saudi Arabia. Aramco, however, has no facilities there on the Saudi-Yemeni border except for a depot for distributing oil products. Furthermore, it is not located in Najran but in Jizan.

A Saudi power relay station caught fire on Friday by a projectile launched from neighboring Yemen towards southern Saudi Arabia. There were no casualties.

Najran Civil Defense Department said that no one was hurt in the attack and that the fire had been extinguished, adding that “work is under way in coordination with concerned authorities in the Saudi Electricity Company to return the situation to the normal.”

Asharq Al-Awsat was informed that electricity in Najran was not influenced and the projectile was contained and controlled.

On the battlefield, Yemeni army forces and allied fighters in Abyan province announced seizing Al Mahfad and purging it from terrorist groups with the support of Arab Coalition led by Saudi Arabia and UAE.

As for Taiz, Houthis continue their revenge attacks through the systematic murder of residents and their eviction from their villages to transform the region into a barrack.

Basim al-Hakimi, member of the National Dialogue Conference (NDC) and political analyst, told Asharq Al-Awsat that Taiz is the greatest battle in Yemen. “It has a geostrategic value and connects the south with the north. Liberating Taiz protects the government’s victories and facilitates moving towards other regions that are seized by the coup.”

“Houthis besieged Taiz given its strategic importance, but the Yemeni army forces and allied fighters continue to advance and achieve victory day after day,” said Hakimi.
