Republican United States Senator Lindsey Graham lauded President Donald Trump’s new travel ban on Monday, saying that he expected it would survive scrutiny by the courts.

“I believe the new order will withstand legal challenges as it’s drafted in a fashion as to not be a religious ban, but a ban on individuals coming from compromised governments and failed states.

This Executive Order will help achieve President Trump’s goal of making us safer,” Graham, who has criticized some of Trump’s policies, said in a statement.

On the other hand, the US military has deployed a small number of forces in and around the Syrian city of Manbij to ensure that the different parties do not attack each other and stay focused on fighting the ISIS terror group, a Pentagon spokesman said on Monday.

Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis told reporters that the forces were there to be a “visible sign of deterrence and reassurance,” adding that this was a new effort which had not been carried out in the past and started last week.
