Yemeni Vice President Ali Mohsen Al-Ahmar relayed his government’s great appreciation towards the substantial role played by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition in the recent liberating of key port city, Mocha.

Putschists and Iran-aligned Houthi militias were driven out of the Red Sea coastal city.

In a phone call, VP Al-Ahmar discussed with Deputy Chief of the Staff Maj.Gen. Ahmed Saif Al-Yafei the current standing at battlefronts and latest victories secured by the Yemeni national army loyal to the internationally recognized government of Yemen, led by President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, reported the Saudi state-owned new agency.

A coup staged by Houthi insurgents, backed by Iran, and armed loyalists fighting for ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh aimed at undermining the authority of the constitutionally empowered government of President Hadi.

The officials, in an effort to embolden security and restore stability, said that stepping up vigilance and stringent security measures is necessary to clear liberated areas.

Swift military gains are leading to breakthroughs in Yemen’s war, which has been ongoing for one and a half years. The Yemeni people have suffered much due to the Houthi-staged insurgency, with militants seizing hold of and exploiting national capacities and resources.
