Speaker of Canadian Senate George Furey, currently visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after receiving an invitation from the Shura Council speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Shiekh, lauded the role being played by the Kingdom in bringing about peace to the region.

Furey cited efforts spent by Saudi Arabia in the pursuit of resolving disputes through peaceful means, the Saudi state news agency SPA reported.

Speaking to the to the press following his meeting with the Speaker of the Shura Council earlier today, Furey described his meeting with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz as important.

In his meeting with King Salman, Speaker of the Senate Furey highlighted notable bilateral relations shared between Saudi Arabia and Canada and ways of enhancing them.

He lauded the efforts Saudi Arabia exerts in the field of relief, noting that the Kingdom has not confined its assistance to countries in the region, but covered all countries of the world.

He praised its effective efforts in the fight against terrorism, underscoring the importance of cooperation between the Kingdom and Canada in this field through exchange of information and experience.
