Saudi Arabia’s national cabinet session, chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, congratulated Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish people on the successful referendum for constitutional amendments, said Saudi Press Agency SPA.

A constitutional referendum was held throughout Turkey on 16 April 2017 on whether to approve 18 proposed amendments to the Turkish constitution. The yes vote on the nationwide referendum expanded Erdogan’s executive powers.

King Salman also briefed the national cabinet on talks he held with Philippine’s President Rodrigo Duterte. The King also relayed subject matters discussed with other international political figures.
King Salman had chaired the cabinet’s session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Monday afternoon, reported SPA.

At the outset of the session, the King briefed the cabinet on the results of his meetings and talks with President Duterte, British conservative party lawmaker and Head of Saudi-British Group in British Parliament Charlotte Leslie, and Valentina Matviyenko, speaker of Russia’s Federation Council.

The Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Altoraifi said in a statement to SPA that the cabinet positively reviewed the outcomes of the second group of the joint conclave between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates within Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council. The meeting embodies historical relations shared between the two countries and aids in developing bilateral cooperation through upholding co-consultations and coordination. Such an initiative enhances the role of the common Gulf action system.

More so, the cabinet stressed the strength and firmness of the Saudi economy as the Ministry of Finance has received strong demand from investors for the first international issuance under the Sukuk Program for Islamic bonds.
