US President Donald Trump said on Thursday he will travel to Saudi Arabia this month as part of his first foreign trip since taking office in January.
In a speech in the Rose Garden of the White House, Trump said: “”My first foreign trip as president of the United States will be to Saudi Arabia.”
Trump said his visit will “begin to construct a new foundation” to combat terrorism.
White House officials said Trump’s trip, which starts in Saudi Arabia, aims to confront Iran and ISIS terrorist organization.
The officials also said that the US president wants to achieve long-term stability in the Middle East.
Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia was added to a trip that includes a NATO meeting in Brussels and the Group of Seven summit in Sicily end of May.
