Prince Khalid al-Faisal, the prince of the Mecca region, announced on Sunday the success of this season’s annual Hajj pilgrimage.

He revealed during a press conference that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz personally oversaw the pilgrimage to ensure its success.

Furthermore, he stressed that over two million pilgrims had ascended on Mecca to perform this year’s Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam.

“On behalf of everyone who participated in organizing the Hajj, I thank the wise leadership and the Minister of Interior” on the success, added Prince Khalid.

“This year’s pilgrimage was an exceptional success on all levels,” he declared.

In addition, he stressed that Saudi Arabia provided services to all pilgrims “without discrimination.”

“This country is open to all Muslims and we did not bar the entry of Iranians or anyone else,” he stated.

“We completely reject the politicization of the Hajj and of its employment for non-worship purposes,” he said.

In addition, Prince Khalid clarified that the Hajj pilgrimage is strictly aimed at worship, explaining that there is no religious tourism at the holy sites.
