Riyadh – Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister and President of the Political and Security Affairs Council, chaired a meeting of the council on Tuesday in Riyadh.

During the meeting, the council listened to a political and security briefing on a number of issues in addition to a number of regional and international developments and incidents toward which it took the relevant recommendations.

In another matter, the Crown Prince announced the second Annual International Cyber Security Conference (ICSC) with his endorsement.

ICSC will take place on February 27th – 28th, 2017 at the Security Forces Officer’s Club in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is expected to host over 1,000 delegates from different industry verticals and will be grouped into three main categories: VVIPs, industry drivers and future shapers.

The conference will address the current and future cyber security challenges affecting the Kingdom and the region. It will also highlight solutions and opportunities in the cyber security sector and foster networking and collaboration as well as facilitate transactions, partnerships and deals between key stakeholders and vendors.

Dr. Abbad al-Abbad, Executive Director of Strategic Development and Communication at the National Cyber Security Center pointed out that the goal of the convention is provide strategic tools to protect classified information of the critical infrastructure of Saudi Arabia.

“The conference aims at providing stakeholders with strategic knowledge and tools to protect the Kingdom’s critical infrastructure and sensitive data, in addition to introducing them to leading solution providers,” he said.

“At a time when cyber threats are constantly evolving, we need practical solutions for threat mitigation, as well as the knowledge required to effectively deploy these solutions,” added Abbad.

Nicholas Watson, Managing Director at Naseba, explained that this convention is a new chapter in Naseba’s contribution to economic and technological developments in the Kingdom.

“The International Cyber Security Conference” is another chapter in Naseba’s continuous contribution to the economic and technological development in Saudi Arabia, and we are honored to be partnering with some of the region’s leading organizations to promote cyber security and technological innovation,” he elaborated.

It is worth mentioning that Saudi Arabia aims to diversify its economy with a series of historic and bold policy changes, and preparing to achieve the goals set out in Vision 2030.

The success of cyber security in the Kingdom depends on several factors and not solely on spending. It relies on the development of effective standards, policies and legal frameworks, assessments of risks, governance and compliance, law enforcement and legal interception, sharing and disseminating critical information and alerts, and creating further education and awareness among key stakeholders.

Leading national organizations will be invited to sponsor the conference and support the Kingdom’s fight against cyber-crimes, in addition to national and international companies providing cyber security solutions, services, products, training and consultancy.
