WASHINGTON- Two U.S consulate Employees were killed by an explosive device in the Pakistani city of Peshawar. Other soldiers who were also killed on the same drug-eradication mission, as stated by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday. sm

The U.S Secretary of State told an event in Washington “Just this morning, I woke to the news that we had lost two local employees in Peshawar who worked with our consulate there.”

They were going out on an effort to eradicate narcotics fields.

“An IED exploded and several were lost; a few of the soldiers who were there to guard them also”.

Further, State Department spokesman John Kirby said the incident took place on Tuesday.

The employees were traveling in a Pakistani government Anti-Narcotics Force convoy working for the USAID-funded poppy-eradication project in Ambar tehsil, in the Mohmand Agency of Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). when their vehicle was targeted by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

In addition to the aforementioned, Kirby assured that the U.S government condemns this attack strongly.

Kirby added that the United States was infact offering its support and assistance to Pakistan in investigating thois sad incident and in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
