Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways said on Wednesday that Qatari nationals will not be allowed to board flights to the United Arab Emirates or to pass through airports in the UAE even to change planes.
Foreigners living in Qatar with residence visas will no longer be eligible for visas on arrival into the UAE, a spokesman for Etihad Airways added.
According to the spokesman, “this ruling applies to all airlines flying into the UAE, including Etihad Airways.”
The measures come after several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain cut ties with Qatar on Monday over its support for terrorism.
The UAE had already said Qatari nationals would not be allowed to enter the country or cross its points of
entry.
