Asharq Al-Awsat Beirut office, after being attacked- Friday April, 1,2016.

Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper condemns the uncivilized attack on its Beirut-based office that took place late this Friday, asking the Lebanese government to take responsibility for the safety of all its employees. Moreover, Asharq Al-Awsat assures its adherence to its dear Lebanese readers, stating that the attacks will not influence the editorial policy of the newspaper and its commitment towards covering the Lebanese news and updates through its Beirut-based office, or through publishing the newspaper in Lebanon. Noting that the attacks do not represent the Lebanese people.

At the same time, Asharq Al-Awsat dissents the clamor about the caricature that was published in today’s issued edition (Friday), which was misinterpreted by some people.

In addition to the aforementioned, Asharq Al-Awsat further emphasizes on its respect for Lebanon, stating that the caricature aimed to spot the light on the current situation of the Lebanese government, as a country that’s living a big lie because of all surrounding attempts to dominate it and peel it off its Arabian environment, as well as to obstruct the Presidential Elections.
