Kuwait-London-The 18th edition of the Children and Youngsters Cultural Festival in Kuwait has opened at the newest and biggest Kuwaiti theater with the Cinderella Show performed by the Moscow Ballet troop.

Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah inaugurated the festival at the theater of the famous Kuwaiti actor Abdulhussain Abdulredha amidst the presence of a big audience and a number of ambassadors. The Moscow Ballet troop introduced a bouquet of dancing performances to the famous story of Cinderella.

The character of Cinderella was played by dancer Nina Koloskova and the character of prince was played by Dimitri Kerlyn.

The Moscow Ballet troop was established in 2009 and has performed in festivals abroad such as France, Italy, India, and elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Acting Secretary General of the NCCAL Mohammad Al-Asousi stated that the festival is one of the main events on Kuwait’s cultural agenda. This year’s edition is special for coinciding with the state celebrations of choosing Kuwait as a capital for Islamic Culture for 2016, he said.

He emphasized the role of culture in promoting tolerance and dialogue and countering extremism and the exclusion of others.

The festival, which lasts till September, will include a number of national and international activities. It will also comprise a number of training workshops like piano, photography, Arabian calligraphy and creativity development sessions, which aim at promoting children’s skills during the summer vacation.
