Aden- On the upcoming march round of deliberations announced by U.N. Special Envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Yemeni Minister of Information and Mass Media Mohammed Qubaty said that Yemen’s legitimate government insists on saving Yemeni blood from being spilled and accounts itself responsible to all of its citizens.

Qubaty added that because Yemen’s legitimate government considers the safety of its citizens’ a priority, authorities will participate at any discussions regarding the implementation of U.N. resolution 2216. “If there are any serious discussions on realizing the resolution, why won’t we participate?” Qubaty added.

Minister Qubaty assured Asharq Al-Awsat that pro-legitimacy forces, national army, popular resistance and the Saudi-led intervention forces’ actions actually enforce the U.N. 2216 resolution issued in the seventh chapter. Should a peaceful mean on implementing the resolution present itself, all the above-mentioned forces would unreservedly welcome it.

Houthi and ousted President Ali Abdullah Saleh militias continue with their evasive manner when participating at U.N. sponsored negotiations, so that they achieve what they can’t on the battlefield. Qubaty pointed out that the militias are falling apart and losing on a daily basis, “that is why we are hearing about their intentions on carrying out what has been agreed on, regarding peace and resolution application”, Qubaty added.

“Indicators will be considered serious if true and serious indicators were presented, through proving good intentions towards what has been agreed on regarding trust-building procedures; especially the release of those kidnapped, Defense Minister Mahmoud al-Subaihi, Major General Nasser Mansour, Major General Faisal Rajab, and Mohammed Qahtan,”, Qubaty said.

When asked on the continuous Iranian arm’s support Yemeni insurgents are receiving via Yemeni coasts, Qubaty said that Yemen’s coastal reach stretches as long as 2400 km, and that the relationship between al-Qaeda and the Houthi insurgents is not something recent.

Qubaty stressed on the fact that agents who previously worked for homeland security and secret services during the time the deposed President Saleh was in office, are the ones raging terror across the region. He also highlighted the operative role of Iranian intelligence in artillery, oil, alcohol and drugs trafficking into Yemen, and that all the revenue made is being pumped to fund the insurgency.

Iran should be accounted by the international community for being a terror-sponsoring state in the region.

Yemeni government, on Feb.23, convened in an exceptional meeting held in Riyadh and chaired by Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. Topics discussed during the meeting, according to Qubaty, revolved around restoring the state of affairs in freed regions, in addition to conferring on the persistence of the campaign on freeing the rest of the governorates which are still dominated by insurgents.

Security and services across Yemen were also brought up during the meeting, pointing out that work teams on suits dealing with security, military, and humanitarian relief aspects of the country will be formed.

President Hadi pointed out that he himself will head the political case file, and will tackle several principal arguments. Having arrived at the gates of freedom, attending topics on reconstruction, constitutional plebiscite and the re-establishment of national institutions is necessary.
