“Tunisia 2020” Offers Investment Projects Worth $18.9 Billion | ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive 2005 -2017

Tunis- Eighty-two projects with an overall value of $18.9 billion, spread over 20 sectors, will be presented to foreign investors and lenders at the International Investment Conference “Tunisia 2020”, which will be held in the Tunisian capital on November 29 and 30.

More than 2,000 participants will be present at the conference, including heads of state and high-ranking economic and financial figures, according to Tunisia’s Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA).

Funding of projects will be divided between public funding (€8,7 billion for 46 projects), public-private funding (€6 billion for 16 projects) and private funding (€3 billion for 20 projects).

Investment projects include the construction of the ports and express roads linking different governorates, motorways and the extension of the Tunis-Carthage Airport.

Among other projects is the construction of the Sfax metro, which is estimated at €240 million.

The digital sector will be present with three major projects, including the Tunisia Digital 2020 project, the Smart Tunisia project and the e-government development strategy.

Seven projects with an overall budget of €1,9 billion will also be presented in the field of energy.

Development projects will also cover the environment and industrial sectors ( 8 projects) , with a total amount of €956 million. Industry will also be present with 3 projects, with a total financing of €893 million.

Other projects will include water and sanitation, housing, agriculture, health projects, education, human development, logistics, mines, tourism and sports.
