Khartoum- Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir appointed on Wednesday Bakri Hassan Saleh as prime minister, a newly reinstated post.

Ibrahim Mahmoud, the National Congress Party’s deputy chief, stated after a meeting that the NCP approved appointing Saleh as prime minister and assigned to him the formation of the government after completion of consultations with the national dialogue parties.

Saleh is the last of National Revolutionary Council members still accompanying Bashir – he occupied several positions since June 30, 1989. Saleh was appointed as first vice president after discharging Ali Osman Mohammed Taha in 2013.

“He will take the oath as prime minister,” Mahmoud announced.
